From November 6th to 11th, 2023, the U.S.-China Clean Tech Center (UCCTC), with the support of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration (ITA), orchestrated a cleantech trade delegation consisting of 16 companies to visit China. The delegation spanned diverse sectors, including clean energy, batteries, new energy vehicles, charging facilities, soil remediation, water pollution treatment, industrial air pollution control, green building, environmental nanomaterials, clean fuels, and more. Notably, this delegation marks the initial visit to China by U.S. industrial companies in the post-pandemic era.
Throughout the week, the trade mission actively participated in amicable and highly fruitful meetings and business activities. The visit afforded the trade mission valuable opportunities for one-on-one business matchmakings and on-site visits in six cities across China. Engaging with over 400 prominent Chinese enterprises, partners, and professional institutions, the trade mission laid a robust foundation for future business collaborations between U.S. companies and diverse entities in China.

SHENZHEN
On November 6th, 2023, the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-U.S. Clean Technology Industry Matchmaking Conference was successfully convened in Shenzhen. This collaborative event was organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Invest in Hong Kong, and the U.S.-China Clean Tech Center. The conference was strategically designed to cultivate fresh avenues for the exchange and collaboration of clean technologies among Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and the United States. CEOs and executives from companies participating in the U.S. Clean Tech Delegation delivered insightful presentations, showcasing their cutting-edge technologies and innovative products. Subsequently, they actively participated in business cooperation discussions, engaging with representatives from nearly 200 companies and government agencies in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
GUANGZHOU
On November 7th, the trade mission actively participated in the 2023 Guangdong-North America Clean Technology Industry Matchmaking Conference, jointly organized by the Guangdong Department of Commerce and the U.S.-China Clean Tech Center. This event unfolded at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center, attracting over 270 representatives from enterprises, government entities, and industry institutions across Guangdong province. During the conference, Chen Yuehua, the Level-1 Inspector of the Guangdong Department of Commerce, and Andrew Edlefsen, the Principal Commercial Officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou, delivered insightful speeches on behalf of the Chinese and U.S. governments, respectively.
This marks the U.S.-China Clean Tech Center’s fourth organization of a cleantech trade delegation visit to Guangdong province, following engagements in 2017, 2018, and 2019. It also signifies the fourth collaboration between UCCTC and the Guangdong Department of Commerce in orchestrating impactful cleantech industry matchmaking activities.
After the morning matchmaking conference, the trade mission proceeded to the residence of the U.S. Consul General in Guangzhou, attending a welcome reception organized by the U.S. Consulate General. They warmly interacted and exchanged discussions with the consulate’s working team.
SHANGHAI
On the morning of November 8th, the Shanghai-North America Clean Technology and Carbon Neutrality Cooperation Summit, jointly organized by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, the U.S.-China Clean Tech Center, and Lingang Group, took place at the 6th China International Import Expo. Zhu Yi, Vice Chairwoman of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, and Everett Wakai, Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, attended the event and delivered speeches. Over 180 representatives from government, institutions, companies, or investment firms attended this conference.
This marked a milestone as the UCCTC organized the first-ever U.S. cleantech trade mission to participate in the China International Import Expo. The summit featured presentations by 16 companies from the U.S. trade mission, showcasing leading American clean technology products and solutions. The event also facilitated on-site exchanges and collaboration opportunities between 67 Chinese companies along the entire industry chain and U.S. enterprises. Notable Chinese participants included well-known domestic green equipment manufacturer Shanghai Electric, green low-carbon logistics technology company Lingniu New Energy, green photovoltaic technology firm Senergy Corporation, and new energy charging service provider TELD.
NANJING
On the morning of November 10th, the Jiangsu-U.S. Cleantech Economic and Trade Conference, a collaborative initiative between the Department of Commerce of Jiangsu and the U.S.-China Clean Tech Center, with support from the Department of Ecology and Environment of Jiangsu, was successfully convened in Nanjing. The event witnessed the participation of over 100 attendees, including officials from the Department of Commerce of Jiangsu, the Department of Ecology and Environment of Jiangsu, the Jiangsu Environmental Protection Industry Association, the Jiangsu Qingbei Zero Carbon Technology Research Institute, and representatives from various enterprises. Following presentations by U.S. companies, Chinese participants actively engaged in business matchmaking sessions with their U.S. counterparts. Leaders from Jiangsu Province anticipate that this event will serve as a pivotal starting point, fostering sustained and elevated exchanges and cooperation in the cleantech sector between the two sides.
